Waves / Seasons Our typical trip will access all three types of waves, Point Break, Reef Break, and Beach Break. Costa Rica tends towards the mellow type of wave. Waist to head high is common, occasionally to double overhead. The best weather is generally December thru May with good waves from South and Northwest and typically little rain. The "off-season" weather is June thru November when the heavy afternoon rain squalls are possible. However the waves are generally larger, coming from the South only. Weather and wave predictions are really generalities and it can be perfect anytime of the year. In Costa Rica you can pretty well count on a good trip most anytime; use the above guide as your own schedule permits. |
